Many have asked why the change from the original page name and also what's with the new name?

Well first off, the Keyak's dropped into my lap at the same time as I transitioned out of an instructor role in the outdoor industry. I hadn't planned on immediately pursuing another role in the outdoor industry, other than being a participant, but an opportunity presented itself and I was glad I took it.

The Keyak's are awesome. I love them. Those that have seen them have loved them and the customer and dealer base is growing and hopefully it will increase in numbers and grow farther afield in the near future.

With the success of the Keyak, and with the entrepreneurial drive and spirit alive and well within me I decided to look around and see what other unique items are out there that have not yet been brought to a wide market or are perhaps being enjoyed in other markets.

Over the past several weeks I have been in talks with several manufacturers of unique products that are currently not available to, or have not been exposed to, the central Canadian, or North American, marketplace. As mentioned previously, I am currently in discussions with, and just waiting to cross some t's and dot some i's with product that is made in several different regions of the US and product that is currently being manufactured and being widely used in the UK.

Exciting time lie ahead for me with this new venture and I invite you along for the ride. New products, new concepts, new ideas and new experiences are to be had here.

As we go forward both this platform, Facebook, and a new, in progress, e-commerce website, www.kingdomoutdoor.ca, will be the places to order these products or to find out which dealer is in your area to purchase a particular item at. Please support these dealers. They welcome your business. :)

Facebook will also be a place for you to share your ideas, critique a product, or even suggest a product that you think I may be interested in. However keep in mind that Kingdom Outdoor Products will be about "unique outdoor products" so if you are a sea kayaker or a hiker or a canoeist perhaps the new product that is focused towards the car camper or the hunter or the cyclist may not be your cup of tea.

So back to the name: the name has actually been in my head  for several years now. It is a name I have always loved and had decided that if I were to ever start a business in the outdoor industry it must contain "Kingdom Outdoor"

I have always loved the outdoors and in particular water. My Mother blames the water part for a ride she took in an old fishing  boat out of Anstruther harbour onto the North Sea when she was 8+ months pregnant with me. Many of my fondest memories have been outdoors as a youth, a teen and well on into my adulthood. Camping, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, boating, biking, sailing, skiing, hiking etc have all been passions of mine...pretty much anything outdoors.

I guess that explains the Outdoor part.

Now for the Kingdom part:

For those that have never heard of Anstruther, mentioned above, it is a small coastal fishing village, just around the "corner" from the home of golf, St Andrews, in Scotland. Anstruther, St. Andrews and my birthplace of Dunfermline, further down the coast, are all part of The Kingdom of Fife. A county, if you will, in Scotland. And as I am sure you all know, Scotland of course is part of the United Kingdom.

So there you have it, "Kingdom Outdoor" is Me, My heritage and My passions rolled up into one. Add some unique items into the mix and you have "Kingdom Outdoor Products".

I have a vision for where this will lead, and if you've read this far you've probably caught on to the gist of what that is as well:"cater to the active individual who demands high quality gear and unique products in their outdoor pursuits"

If that changes or the path veers, and it will as my vision goes beyond what is explained above,  I'll be the first to let you know, but for now that's it, get out and enjoy the great outdoors....oh and take one of our products along with you, there will be plenty of them.

All the best
